When to use
- Interpreting right-heart catheterisation data, classifying shock, and assessing pulmonary hypertension.
Formula
SVR = 80 × (MAP − RAP) / CO [dyn·s·cm⁻⁵]. PVR = (mPAP − PCWP) / CO [Wood units]; multiply by 80 for dyn·s·cm⁻⁵.
Pearls and pitfalls
- The 2022 ESC/ERS definition of pulmonary hypertension uses mPAP >20 mmHg, with pre-capillary disease requiring PCWP ≤15 mmHg and PVR >2 Wood units.
