Formula
Weighted sum of trauma severity, immobilization type, age, sex, BMI, and VTE risk factors; score >=7 identifies patients at high VTE risk.
Pearls and pitfalls
- Randomized implementation of a TRiP(cast)-based strategy safely withheld anticoagulation in most low-risk patients.
- Not validated for upper-limb immobilization or non-trauma indications.
