When to use
- Estimating the probability of an uncomplicated ureteral stone in adults with acute flank pain.
Formula
Sex (male 2) + timing (<6 h = 3, 6-24 h = 1) + origin (non-black 3) + nausea (vomiting 2, nausea 1) + microscopic haematuria (3). Range 0-13. Low 0-5, moderate 6-9, high 10-13.
Pearls and pitfalls
- High scores make important alternative diagnoses less likely and may reduce the need for CT imaging.
