When to use

  • Estimating 10-year cardiovascular risk in adults aged 70 and above without prior CVD, including those with or without diabetes.

Formula

Sex-specific model on age, diabetes, smoking, systolic BP, total and HDL cholesterol; risk = 1-S0(10)^exp(linear predictor - adjustment), recalibrated to 1 of 4 regional risk charts.

Pearls and pitfalls

  • Uses different baseline survival, adjustment constants, and calibration factors than the under-70 SCORE2 model - do not mix tables.
  • Competing risk of non-CVD death is explicitly modelled given higher background mortality in this age group.
