When to use
- Estimating 10-year cardiovascular risk in apparently healthy adults 40-69 without established CVD or diabetes to guide primary-prevention decisions.
Formula
Sex-specific Cox model on age, smoking, systolic BP, total and HDL cholesterol with age-interaction terms; risk = 1-S0(10)^exp(linear predictor), recalibrated to 1 of 4 regional risk charts via a complementary log-log transform.
Pearls and pitfalls
- Not validated for patients with known CVD, diabetes, familial hypercholesterolaemia, or age >69 (use SCORE2-OP instead).
- Region selection materially changes the output - use the country-specific ESC risk region.
