Episodic or continuous abdominal pain occurring at least 4 times per month
Pain does not occur solely during physiologic events (e.g., eating, menses)
Insufficient criteria for irritable bowel syndrome, functional dyspepsia, or abdominal migraine
After appropriate evaluation, the abdominal pain cannot be fully explained by another medical condition
Criteria fulfilled for at least 2 months prior to diagnosis

When to use
- Diagnosing functional abdominal pain-NOS in a child with recurrent abdominal pain that does not fit IBS, functional dyspepsia, or abdominal migraine.
Formula
Pain at least 4 times/month, plus all of: not occurring solely with physiologic events; insufficient criteria for IBS, functional dyspepsia, or abdominal migraine; not explained by another condition. Criteria met for at least 2 months.
