When to use
- Risk-stratifying patients with Group 1 pulmonary arterial hypertension to guide treatment intensification.
Formula
Weighted sum of WHO/FC, male sex+age>60, low SBP, high HR, 6MWD band, BNP/NT-proBNP band, renal insufficiency, low DLCO, pericardial effusion, and low PVR. Low risk ≤6, intermediate 7-8, high ≥9 points.
Pearls and pitfalls
- This implementation covers the core physiologic/functional/haemodynamic variables confirmed from Benza et al. 2019; REVEAL 2.0's own rule allows scoring with ≥7 of 12 variables provided FC, natriuretic peptide, and 6MWD are included.
- PAH etiology subgroup, right atrial pressure, and hospitalization within the prior 6 months are part of the full 12-variable tool but are not included here — use the official calculator for definitive staging.
