When to use
- Following rheumatoid arthritis disease activity using only patient-reported data, with no examiner joint count or labs.
Formula
PAS = (HAQ x 3.33 + pain VAS + patient global VAS) / 3, on a 0-10 scale. Categories: near remission <=0.25, low <=3.7, moderate <8.0, severe >=8.0.
Pearls and pitfalls
- Contains only patient-derived measures, so it can be completed by questionnaire without a clinic visit.
