When to use

  • Reporting functional outcome in stroke trials and clinical follow-up (a favourable outcome is usually mRS 0-2).

Formula

Single ordinal grade 0 (no symptoms) to 6 (death).

Pearls and pitfalls

  • mRS 0-2 is the conventional threshold for functional independence.
