Glasgow Prognostic Score (GPS) for cancer outcomes

Glasgow Prognostic Score (GPS) for cancer outcomes
C-reactive protein
mg/L
Albumin
Complete the fields above to see the result.

When to use

  • Prognostic stratification in solid-organ cancers (originally validated in inoperable non-small-cell lung cancer) using two routine blood tests.

Formula

GPS = 0 if CRP <=10 mg/L and albumin >=3.5 g/dL; 1 if either CRP >10 mg/L or albumin <3.5 g/dL; 2 if both CRP >10 mg/L and albumin <3.5 g/dL.

Pearls and pitfalls

  • The modified GPS (mGPS) scores 0 for CRP <=10 mg/L regardless of albumin - the two versions differ in patients with isolated hypoalbuminemia.
