When to use
- Pretreatment risk stratification of newly diagnosed chronic-phase CML started on imatinib.
Formula
EUTOS score = 7 × basophils (%) + 4 × spleen size (cm below costal margin, palpation). Score >87 = high risk; ≤87 = low risk.
Pearls and pitfalls
- Derived from 2060 patients on first-line imatinib in the European Treatment and Outcome Study registry.
- Largely superseded by the Sokal and ELTS scores for outcomes on newer tyrosine kinase inhibitors, but still widely reported.
