When to use

  • Early identification of vasodilatory shock and risk of vasopressor requirement in patients with hypotension or sepsis.

Formula

DSI = heart rate (bpm) / diastolic blood pressure (mmHg). Higher values (roughly >=2) mark worse outcomes.
