When to use
- Estimating cryoprecipitate dose for hypofibrinogenaemia (e.g. massive haemorrhage, DIC, dilutional coagulopathy).
Formula
Plasma volume (dL) = weight(kg) x 70 x (1 - Hct) / 100. Fibrinogen needed (mg) = (target - current fibrinogen, mg/dL) x plasma volume (dL). Units = fibrinogen needed / 250 mg per unit, rounded up.
